The No.9-seeded Radwanska was the first of the pair to advance, needing just an hour and nine minutes for a 6-2, 6-1 win over Casey Dellacqua. Radwanska was just too solid on her serve, holding all eight of her service games and fighting off all six of the break points she faced in the match.
Wozniacki had a fight on her hands - she needed almost as long as Radwanska's whole match to win the first set of her match against Christina McHale, battling back from 4-2 down to take it in an hour and seven minutes, 7-5. But once she had that one tucked away it was plain sailing for the No.5-seeded Dane - she needed just 24 minutes to win the second set and close out the American qualifier, 7-5, 6-0. Wozniacki leads Radwanska in their head-to-head series, 7-4, though this will be their first career meeting on outdoor clay.
They played on indoor clay in Stuttgart in 2011, with Wozniacki prevailing.
