Back in Indian Wells a year after her magical run to the title, Flavia Pennetta picked up right where she left off from at the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday, winning her opening match against a game American in Madison Brengle, 6-4, 6-2.
View Match Stats Brengle came into this tournament as a Top 50 player for the first time in her career, fresh off a run to the fourth round of the Australian Open. But the Italian, now 33 and back in the place where she played some of her best-ever tennis 12 months ago, was too strong in all departments.
