SABINE LISICKI VS JANCOVIC. SEMIS OF THE BNP PARIBAS OPEN 2015

Having failed to win a single match at the BNP Paribas Open in six previous appearances here, Sabine Lisicki fought off three match points in the third set on Thursday night in the quarterfinals overcoming defending champion Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-7(3), 7-6(4) in a thrilling encounter.

Lisicki dropped to her knees after she hit an ace on her second match point - almost an hour after she had her first.
“I think it was a really good match. We played really well the third set both, and was a good fight until the last point,” Pennetta said.
“Sport is like this. Tennis is like this. I'm happy about the match, but of course I am upset, because when you are there you want to win it.
“But I think was really good match for the crowd, for everything, for us.” It was then that the German had the chance to end the match in the second set with a deciding point on Pennetta’s serve, 4-5 up. But the Italian saved that match point, and did not give Lisicki another look at breaking her serve for the remainder of the night.
