Serena Williams vs Ana Ivanovic
Head-To-Head: Williams leads Ivanovic, 7-1
1/Serena is on the second-longest winning streak in WTA Finals history.
Serena has won her last 15 matches at the WTA Finals, going 5-0 at each of her title runs in 2009, 2012 and 2013. Only Martina Navratilova has won more in a row here - 21 between '83 and '86.
2) Nobody has won more matches in 2014 than Ivanovic.
Ivanovic has won a whopping 56 WTA main draw matches this year, which isn't just the most of anyone, but no one else has even gotten to 50.
Carla Suárez Navarro is second on the list with 49.
3) Serena may be 7-1 against Ivanovic, but the gap has definitely tightened this year. Before 2014, Serena was 4-0 against Ivanovic, never losing a set - never being pushed beyond a 6-4 set, either. Ivanovic scored her first win over Serena at the Australian Open this year, and has taken a set in two of their three meetings since then (including this summertime thriller in Stanford).
Simona Halep vs Eugenie Bouchard
Head-To-Head: Series tied, 1-1
4) This is a match-up between the only two WTA Finals debutantes in this year's field. Not only are these the only two players making their first appearances at the WTA Finals, they're also the two leading WTA Rising Stars - the first two players born in 1991 or later to break the Top 10.
5) Their rivalry is just blossoming, and it's already tight. The two players have split two career meetings, both this year, with Halep rallying from a break down in the third set to win in Indian Wells (highlights here) but Bouchard exacting revenge at Wimbledon. 6) Halep and Bouchard are just the third players from their countries to play this event.
