Agnieszka Radwanska was in superb form in beating Petra Kvitova in straight sets in White Group play at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
Agnieszka Radwanska got her 2014 WTA Finals campaign off to an impressive start in defeating Petra Kvitova, 6-2, 6-3, on Tuesday. From 2-2 in the first set, Radwanska won four straight games to take the set. Then down a break at 3-2 in the second set, she reeled off four straight games again to clinch the victory. Radwanska feasted on Kvitova's second serve, winning 16 of 22 such points, en route to improving to 2-5 against the Czech. Interestingly enough, Radwanska's first win over Kvitova came at the 2012 WTA Finals, and four of their seven encounters have occurred at the season finale. With Caroline Wozniacki having needed three sets to get past Maria Sharapova earlier in the day, Radwanska now finds herself atop the White Group standings.
