Venus williams win's over alison riske into western & southern open 2017

Venus Williams put together a dominant performance against fellow American Alison Riske, dropping just two games on her way to the second round of the Western & Southern Open.

Venus needed just 66 minutes to wrap up the 6-2, 6-0 victory and improve her head to read record against Riske to 3-0, winning all six sets she’s played against her countrywoman.

“The last two matches we’ve played were really well-competed - we’ve had a tiebreaker, we’ve had some 7-5 sets, really close matches” Venus acknowledged. “I know that she’s going to make me hit a lot of balls.

“And the courts are playing really slow, so I have to be patient. On every point I’m like, ‘Venus, just put the ball in the court.’ It’s definitely a practice of patience out here.”
