Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley today announced an increase in prizemoney to $40 milion dollars for 2015.

Here is is personal explanation to players competing at this year's event. Hi everyone, Welcome to Melbourne. We are excited to have you here and to have you experience many of the initiatives at all of our events. By now, many of you have also been involved in the Emirates Australian Open Series and will see that our mantra of continual improvement extends to Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart and Sydney.
We know life on the tour can be tough - on and off the court. That's why we are constantly striving to make it better for you. With this in mind, we decided to again increase our prize money.
You would have noticed we announced in October an increase from $33m (2014) to $36.3m with the intention of getting to $40m by 2016.
But we have decided to bring that forward by a year and increase the prize money to $40m. In the meantime, we will also continue to assess everything from your per diem, to the quality and price of food, stringing, travel costs, accommodation etc.
