NEWS ROGERS CUP 2014. EUGENIE BOUCHARD ON TUESDAY AT 6 p.m. 6 AUGUST 2014


We now know who will be up against Eugenie Bouchard on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on Centre Court at Uniprix Stadium in Montréal: Shelby Rogers of the US. 

 In the highly anticipated contest, two members of the new guard in women’s tennis will go head-to-head. Bouchard, currently ranked no.8 in the world, is 20 years old, and South Carolina native Rogers is 21. In her first round match on Monday afternoon, the American caused the upset when she ousted Ajla Tomljanovic in two sets (6-4, 7-6 (5)) in just over 90 minutes of intense play. Rogers, who is ranked 113th in the world, survived the weekend’s qualifying rounds. This afternoon, Sabine Lisicki of Germany stunned 13th seed Sara Errani of Italy in two sets (6-1, 7-5). Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic defeated Roberta Vinci of Italy in two sets (7-5, 7-5); Alizé Cornet of France overpowered Lauren Davis of the US (6-3, 7-5); UK qualifier Heather Watson routed Tereza Smitkova of the Czech Republic in three sets and Klara Koukalova, also of the Czech Republic, got the better of Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands.
