Eighteen-year-old American Allie Kiick will make her debut in the main draw of the BNP Paribas Open after defeating Belgian An-Sophie Mestach 6-4, 7-5 Tuesday in Indian Wells, while fellow American Madison Brengle failed to advance with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Italian Camila Giorgi. The two British players in action Tuesday also produced mixed results in the final round of qualifying. Heather Watson defeated Brazil’s Teliana Pereira 6-2, 6-2, while Johanna Konta fell to Australian Casey Dellacqua 6-4, 6-3. Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm, a former semi-finalist in Indian Wells, was denied a place in the main draw, 23 years after she first qualified for the tournament. She lost to Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 1-6, 6-0. 
 Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, the top seed in the qualifying draw, prevailed against the Netherland’s Michaella Krajicek 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(4) after two hours and 14 minutes. Meanwhile, Slovakian Anna Schmiedlova beat Ukraine’s Nadiya Kichenok 6-4, 6-4.
