It was only last Sunday that Elina Svitolina and Simona Halep were standing toe to toe in the Italian Open final, a run which cemented their French favouritism statuses.
Then to be hitting together only days later, it was a hint at the type of diva-free, no-fuss attitudes from the two Eastern Europeans.
With 2014 runner-up and title favourite Halep in a race against time to be fit, following an ankle injury suffered in the Rome decider, Svitolina could find herself in uncharted territory – the new favourite to win what would be her first major.
