Katerina Siniakova clinched her second career WTA title at the Ericsson Open in Bastad, shocking top seed and former WTA World No.1, Caroline Wozniacki, 6-3, 6-4.
Delayed by heavy rain after the conclusion of the doubles final, Siniakova and Wozniacki endured a tough battle on the heavy red clay before the Czech youngster earned the win after nearly two hours on court a year after reaching her maiden WTA final in Bastad.
"It’s really amazing for me," Siniakova said during the trophy presentation. "Last year was really good, and so I’m so happy that I came back because I couldn’t imagine a better week.

Caroline Wozniacki made it through a rainy day at the Ericsson Open, defeating rising Belgian star Elise Mertens, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2. Katerina Siniakova stands between the top seed and her first title of 2017; the Czech youngster upset Caroline Garcia, 6-2, 7-5.
"It was a difficult match," Wozniacki said after the win. "She played very well, aggressively in the wind and the sun was very low. It was a combination of those three factors that made it so tough, but I tried to hang in there and be aggressive. I served well when I needed to."

Petra Kvitova has been granted a main draw wildcard into the 2017 Bank of the West Classic.
Kvitova has made a triumphant return to the WTA this year following surgery to repair damage to her left hand suffered during a home invasion in December of 2016. Earlier this year she captured the singles title at the Aegon Classic in Birmingham prior to Wimbledon marking her 20th career WTA singles title.

Caroline wozniacki win's over Pauline parmentier into Ericsson open 2017
BASTAD, Sweden
Caroline Wozniacki needed three sets and nearly two hours to move past a tricky Pauline Parmentier and reach the second round at the Ericsson Open, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
The top seeded Wozniacki, a finalist here in 2009, took a few games to get settled back on the red clay of Bastad while Parmentier came fresh from a quarterfinal run at last week’s BRD Bucharest Open.
“It’s definitely much different playing on clay [than grass], so the match was a bit complicated,” Wozniacki said after the match.

Agnieszka Radwanska married long-time partner Dawid Celt in Poland
Agnieszka Radwanska tied the knot long-time boyfriend and hitting partner Dawid Celt in Poland on Saturday, surrounded by family and friends and her WTA peers.
In addition to being her long-time boyfriend, Celt has been involved in Radwanska's tennis career as her hitting partner.
In attendance from Radwanska's WTA family were Angelique Kerber, Caroline Wozniacki, former Polish No.1 Marta Domachowska and also former ATP Wimbledon semifinalist Jerzy Janowicz.

Kiki Bertens moved through to her second final at the Ladies' Championship Gstaad on Saturday after Sara Sorribes Tormo retired at the close of the opening set of the first semifinal.
The No.2 seed and 2016 runner-up won the opening set, 6-1, when the unseeded Spaniard retired due to a left wrist injury, putting the Dutchwoman through to her second WTA final of the season.
"It's tough always to win a match like this when your opponent has to retire, but I'm happy to be in the final again this year," Bertens said. "Hopefully, I can do a little bit better than last year. I think it's going to be a tough match [tomorrow]."

Tereza Martincova score the biggest upset of the tournament - and her career - by outlasting top seed Caroline Garcia, 7-5, 7-6(1) to reach the quarterfinals of the Ladies Championship Gstaad.
“It’s amazing for me, really, because it was such a tough match," Martincova said after the match. "She’s a really good player. I played every single point and when we started, I was so nervous. But I really like her and her game; for me, I don’t know what to say.”

Patty Schnyder earned the first WTA main draw win of her second career in front of a home crowd at the Ladies Championship Gstaad, saving five match points to surge past compatriot Amra Sadikovic, 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-6(6).
“It feel pretty cool," Schnyder said after the match. "The match was really crazy. I haven’t played too many matches like that. But the longer the match went, I got better, and the rallies got better. By the end, it was really great tennis.”
