 BUCHAREST, Romania - In an all-unseeded final at the BRD Bucharest Open between two players both bidding for their first title, Elena Rybakina got the better of qualifier Patricia Maria Tig 6-2, 6-0 in just one hour and five minutes.

The 24-year-old Tig defeated her third seeded player of the week, No.6 seed Laura Siegemund, to reach her second career WTA final, 6-3, 6-1.

 Irina-Camelia Begu ended the BRD Bucharest Open with a bang, capturing her home title with 6-3, 7-5 win over Julia Goerges.

The Romanian took control from the start of the match, and navigated through a tricky second set to seal the victory in one hour and 37 minutes on court.

After scraping out a marathon one-hour-and-13-minute first set in a tie-break, the No.7-seeded Schmiedlova broke away from 3-all in the second set to finish off the No.1-seeded Errani, 7-6(3), 6-3. 

She broke the former French Open finalist at love to close it out after two hours and seven minutes. It was the second WTA title of Schmiedlova's blossoming career, her first coming earlier this year on the indoor hardcourts of Katowice, Poland, where she beat giant-killer Camila Giorgi in the final. Schmiedlova's win over the No.20-ranked Errani was also the first Top 20 win of her career. 

 "I still cannot believe I won, because it was a really tough match and Sara Errani is an amazing player," Schmiedlova said in her post-match press conference. 
"I knew she'd be playing really well, and I knew it would be tough to focus on each point today because we would have really, really long rallies.

SIMONA HALEP CONQUERS BDR BUCHAREST OPEN 2014

Simona Halep completed a dream week on home soil on Sunday, beating Roberta Vinci in straight sets to not only win the first Bucharest Open, but to get within 11 points of Maria Sharapova on the Road To Singapore leaderboard - Sharapova currently leads the list at No.1. 

 Vinci had beaten Halep in two of their five previous meetings, and she did jump out to a 2-0 lead in the second set, but the No.1-seeded Halep was never really in too much trouble, storming past the No.2-seeded Vinci in just 68 minutes, 6-1, 6-3. She held her serve at love to close the match out. Halep now has eight WTA titles to her name, winning her first six in 2013 (Nürnberg, 's-Hertogenbosch, Budapest, New Haven, Moscow and Sofia) and now two so far this season (Doha and Bucharest). And on top of that, Halep - currently No.2 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard - will now be within 11 points of Sharapova, currently No.1, in the year-long race to the crown jewel event of the WTA, the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, which takes place in October.

NEWS BDR BUCHAREST OPEN 2014. SIMONA HALEP INTO FINAL

BUCHAREST, Romania 
WTA Rising Star Simona Halep overcame an inspired Monica Niculescu on Saturday to reach the final of the inaugural Bucharest Open. 
 Despite an indifferent run of results heading into the tournament, Niculescu has thrown the form book out of the window this week, and for a brief moment at the end of the second set it looked like Halep would also fall under her spell. Bamboozling her fellow Romanian with her usual bag of tricks, Niculescu recovered from losing a one-sided opening set to level the match following a run of four straight games in the second. However, as she has on so many occasions in the past 12 months, Halep weathered the storm to emerge triumphant, fending off a break point in the first game of the decider before moving through the gears to complete a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win. 
 Meeting her in the final will be No.2 seed Roberta Vinci, who ran out a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Kristina Kucova. Vinci has struggled for form this season, but arrived in Bucharest on a high, following her doubles victory alongside Sara Errani at Wimbledon. And she looked full of confidence from the outset against World No.166 Kucova, breaking in the first game thanks to a perfectly weighted drop shot. Kucova would have to wait until the fifth game to get on the scoreboard and by that point the set was already beyond her. Even a brief rain shower at the start of the second was unable to stop Vinci's march towards her first final of the season, and after just over an hour on court she wrapped up victory with an ace down the T.
