Dominika cibulkova fought past a spirited challenge from Paraguayan qualifier Veronica cepede royg  to book a spot into the Miami open third round.

"I just stayed aggressive," she said after the match. "It was my first match here, so it was pretty hot and it wasn't easy conditions. But I made it through. I'd never played her before, so that's always a new experience. I'm glad I got the job done."

With a score line that belied the titanic struggle in the pair's hour-and-a-half encounter, Cibulkova emerged victorious 6-3, 6-2 after more than an hour and a half on court.
