Players have to win two qualifying matches to earn one of 12 spots open in the WTA draw. The draw ceremony will be Monday at 3pm at the revamped Stadium Plaza. Admission all day to the Tennis Garden is free for fans, who can also take in practice sessions of the tournament’s biggest stars.
The men’s qualifying event will begin on Tuesday.

Maria Sanchez, a former USC Trojan who was the No. 1-ranked NCAA player in college tennis, earned a wild card into qualifying by winning the BNP Paribas Challenge on Saturday.
