Kerber win's over cibulkova in the bnp Paribas wta finals 2016

Kerber made a winning start to her campaign at the bnp Paribas wta finals Singapore, but she was made to work every step of the way by an inspired cibulkova 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-3.

Kerber, who's never made it out of the group stage at previous three appearances in the WTA Finals, is well on her way to do so this time around, winning 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-3 in a two hours and 17 minute encounter to close out the night in Singapore.

The victory puts Kerber at No.2 in the Red Group standings, right behind table leader halep who won in straight sets earlier in the day.
But despite the loss, the tight scoreline leaves Cibulkova in a good position to continue in the group stage, sitting in third.
