The WTA returned to Brazil for the first time in over a decade with the inaugural Brasil Tennis Cup in Florianopolis in 2013.
"The transport, the food, the hotel - it was all fantastic," said inaugural champion Monica Niculescu. "It was also near the mall and the beach is beautiful too. I had all I needed in Florianopolis this week - everything was perfect." Previously the host of ITF Women's Circuit events, Florianopolis is the hometown of ATP legend Gustavo Kuerten. It is the capital city and second largest city of the Santa Catarina state in southern Brazil. Known for having a very high quality of life, Florianopolis' economy is heavily based on information technology, tourism and services. It is also a surfing mecca, as the island is considered to have the best and most consistent waves in the country.
Other WTA tournaments in Brazil over the years have been held in Bahia, Curitiba, Guaruja and São Paulo. Rio de Janeiro was added to that list in 2014.

As you can see he is already putting me through my paces.

LESIA TSURENKO CONQUERS ISTANBUL 2015. TEB BNP PARIBAS ISTANBUL CUP

Lesia Tsurenko survived some tense moments late in the first set then completely pulled away to beat Urszula Radwanska in straight sets and win the first WTA title of her career at the International-level TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup.

It was a rare unseeded final on the WTA, and both finalists had taken out seeds along the way - Tsurenko had beaten No.6 seed Daria Gavrilova in the first round, while Radwanska had beaten No.3 seed Jelena Jankovic in the first round and No.8 seed Tsvetana Pironkova in the quarterfinals.
With a first WTA title on the line for both players, Radwanska looked like she was handling the pressure better early on - she held three set points on Tsurenko's serve up 5-4 in the first set.
But the Ukrainian fought them all off and ended up winning seven games in a row to build a 7-5, 4-0 lead, eventually closing it out a few games later after an hour and 32 minutes on court, 7-5, 6-1.

Johanna Larsson scored the first WTA title in Bastad 2015. Collector Swedish Open

Barthel had beaten Larsson in straight sets in all three of their previous meetings, but this time the No.7-seeded Larsson came out swinging, rallying from an early break down to take the first set and then rallying from a break down twice more to edge the No.4-seeded Barthel in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(2).

She stormed out to a 5-0 lead in the second set tie-break and never really looked back. "I'm extremely happy," Larsson said.

"I think I played really well today and I tried to concentrate on taking it point by point. Mona is playing very aggressive tennis so I think my spin really paid off.
"Coming into this tournament I had not won many matches," the Swedish No.1 added. "But I tried to just play my game and stick with my topspin, which is my strength out there. In the end of the match I don't know how it happened, but I won the last point, and of course that's the most important point! "I'm just really living in the moment right now and I'm happy with this victory today.
Hopefully this can pay off later in the season, but right now I am just going to enjoy my first career WTA title."

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova conquer of the BDR BUCHAREST OPEN 2015

After scraping out a marathon one-hour-and-13-minute first set in a tie-break, the No.7-seeded Schmiedlova broke away from 3-all in the second set to finish off the No.1-seeded Errani, 7-6(3), 6-3.

She broke the former French Open finalist at love to close it out after two hours and seven minutes. It was the second WTA title of Schmiedlova's blossoming career, her first coming earlier this year on the indoor hardcourts of Katowice, Poland, where she beat giant-killer Camila Giorgi in the final. Schmiedlova's win over the No.20-ranked Errani was also the first Top 20 win of her career.

"I still cannot believe I won, because it was a really tough match and Sara Errani is an amazing player," Schmiedlova said in her post-match press conference.
"I knew she'd be playing really well, and I knew it would be tough to focus on each point today because we would have really, really long rallies.

Johanna Larsson into Final of the Collector Swedish Open 2015

The No.4-seeded Barthel was the first to move through to the final, breaking serve six times to fight off Spanish WTA Rising Star Lara Arruabarrena after just an hour and 15 minutes, 6-3, 6-2.

Arruabarrena had taken out the No.2 seed, Samantha Stosur, earlier on in the tournament. Larsson, the No.7 seed this week, broke three times - and never even faced a single break point herself - en route to a 6-4, 6-2 win over another WTA Rising Star, Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan.
"I thought I played pretty well today and I had the match right where I wanted," Larsson said.
"I think my serve worked really well, and the conditions played to my advantage. But my serve was the key today and she actually didn't have one break point, which is nice to have in your back pocket."

The Collector Swedish Open launched in 2009 in Bastad in southern Sweden, replacing the Stockholm Open - which ran from 2004 to 2008 - as the country's only event on the WTA calendar. Quickly growing in popularity, it was named the WTA's International Tournament Of The Year in 2012 and the WTA's Tournament Of The Year/EMEA in 2014.
The event is played at the Bastad Tennis Stadium a few hundred yards from Bastad Beach along the Kattegatt Sea. The ATP's SkiStar Swedish Open is staged at the same facility, which has more courts than any venue in the country, the week after the Collector Swedish Open in July. Victorious in 2011 and 2012, Slovenia's Polona Hercog is the only player with multiple Bastad titles.
Serena Williams secured her first International-level title at the 2013 edition.
