(1) Serena Williams (USA #1) vs (4) Maria Sharapova (RUS #4)
H2H: Serena leads Sharapova, 17-2
6) Sharapova will go back up to No.2 now - on the WTA Rankings and Road To Singapore. Right now, Sharapova is No.4 on the WTA Rankings and No.3 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard, but no matter what happens this week, she'll be No.2 behind Serena on both lists come Monday.
7) Everyone talks about Serena's finals record, but her semifinal record is pretty amazing too. Serena is an amazing 20-4 in her career in Grand Slam finals, but she's an even more amazing 24-3 in Grand Slam semifinals. The only losses? Venus Williams in the 2000 Wimbledon semifinals, Justine Henin in the 2003 French Open semifinals and Kim Clijsters in the 2009 US Open semifinals.
8) Sharapova has a winning record in Grand Slam semifinals too. It's not as lopsided as Serena's record, but Sharapova is a winning 10-9 in Grand Slam semifinals.
9) Sharapova has seven wins over World No.1s. Sharapova, a former No.1 herself, has seven wins over reigning No.1s - Lindsay Davenport twice, Victoria Azarenka twice, and Amélie Mauresmo, Justine Henin and Caroline Wozniacki once each.
10) But beating Serena is another story... Sharapova has never beaten Serena while she's No.1, and she actually hasn't beaten her in more than 10 and a half years - she's lost 16 straight since beating her at the WTA Finals in November 2004.
