Sloane Stephens win's over roberta vinci into 1 round of the us open 2017

One of the most dangerous unseeded players made a statement to begin her US Open on Monday, as American Sloane Stephens won eight of the last nine games to defeat former US Open singles finalist Roberta Vinci in Louis Armstrong Stadium, 7-5, 6-1.

Stephens, who missed nearly a year of action due to a foot injury that required surgery, returned to competitive tennis at Wimbledon but saw her ranking sit outside the world's Top 900 as the US Open Series began in earnest this summer.

Mónica Puig win's over vinci into first round of the French open 2017

Monica Puig secured her first win over wily Italian Roberta Vinci to move into the Roland-Garros second round.
The Olympic champion prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 despite a series of nasty tumbles onto the red dirt that reduced her to tears as the emotions were released following match point.
“It's no surprise that I haven't had the most amazing year. I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself, and when you get to a Grand Slam it's just a different feel,” admitted Puig. “You want to do well. You want to pass rounds. You want to have some big wins. I've never beaten Roberta in competition before, and she's such a tough player, especially on the clay.
“Today was just all about the heart and the fight and just I was willing to go the extra mile to win. I'm just glad that at the end I was able to maintain my composure and close it out.”

Many of those tennis players who have already arrived in Rome ahead of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia have been making the most of their free time and taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of the Eternal City.

Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Roberta Vinci, Dominika Cibulkova, Andreas Seppi and Deborah Chiesa all had the opportunity to see some of the city’s most famous landmarks when they attended Friday’s draw ceremony, which took place under the archway of the Arco di Constantino next to the Colosseum.

Simona halep advances in Mutua Madrid Open 2017. Vinci out. Press conference

Q. Talking about doubles, how comfortable do you feel on the doubles court? Do you feel like you know what you're doing out there?

SIMONA HALEP: Half. Let's say half, yeah. Now I'm used more to doubles game. Is not easy because you have different angles. Everything is different.

I cannot say I'm a doubles player, but I'm trying. I play to improve a little bit the net game, to serve more, to return more.

It's just a better practice, in my opinion, unofficial practice. I started to like it more than before. Every time when I go on court, I'm thinking to win. This was not before. Before it was just to play some points. Now I really want to win every match I go to play doubles.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci have been voted WTA Doubles Team Of The Year 2014

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci finished 2014 as the WTA Year-End World No.1s presented by Dubai Duty Free in doubles, and there's some icing on the cake - they've been voted WTA Doubles Team Of The Year.

"We're feeling amazing and really happy about this award," Errani said. "Three years in a row is something special. It's been a fantastic year for us and getting the Career Grand Slam is something we'll never forget. We want to thank our families, our teams for constantly supporting us, and especially all the beautiful fans around the world. Without you we're nothing.
"We're looking forward to a wonderful 2015 - see you back on the court soon!" Having finished 2013 as co-World No.1s, Errani and Vinci had targets on their backs all year, and they even surrendered the top spot to Asian trailblazers Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai for a few months. But all in all they handled the pressure extremely well, winning five WTA doubles titles - including Grand Slams at the Australian Open and Wimbledon - and finishing co-World No.1s again.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are officially sharing WTA doubles Year-End World No.1

That Wimbledon triumph gave Errani and Vinci a Career Doubles Grand Slam, making them just the fifth doubles team in the Open Era to achieve the feat after Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver, Kathy Jordan and Anne Smith, Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva, and, of course, the Williams sisters.

There's more - having already finished as co-No.1s in 2013, repeating the feat in 2014 makes them just the second team in WTA history to finish multiple years as co-No.1s, after Cara Black and Liezel Huber (the Zimbabwean-American duo achieved the feat three times in 2007, 2008 and 2009).
The only other team to achieve the feat was Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur (who did it once in 2006).
This will be Errani and Vinci's 60th career week as co-World No.1s in doubles together, the second-longest stint as co-No.1s in WTA history.

Here's the full list in order of most weeks...

27 weeks - Cara Black &Liezel Huber
60 weeks - Sara Errani & Roberta Vinci
39 weeks - Lisa Raymond & Sam Stosur
20 weeks - Liezel Huber & Lisa Raymond

SARA ERRANI AND ROBERTA VINCI CONQUERS WIMBLEDON DOUBLES TITTLE 2014

Having claimed every other Grand Slam doubles together, it was only natural that Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci would wish to complete their Grand Slam collection at Wimbledon.

They did so convincingly with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in the final today, becoming only the fifth pair in history to win every Major title. Not only that, but Errani and Vinci are the first Italians to win a senior title at the All England Club in 128 editions of the tournament. “Unbelievable. I mean, no words to tell you what it is for us,” Errani said of the pair’s Grand Slam sweep.

“We were thinking about that all the day, all the morning. (It) is very special.” Experience was arguably the difference in the 56-minute win. The Italians, who are close friends, had already won 19 tour titles as a pair and were playing their 258th match together; Babos and Mladenovic, by contrast, were contesting only their third event as a team and 13th match, having reached the final of Paris earlier this year and fallen in the first round in Birmingham. The first blows were struck early by the second seeds, Errani and Vinci racing to a 3-0 lead when neither Babos nor Mladenovic could hold their opening service games. They’d surrender one of those breaks on Errani’s serve, but as Vinci imposed at the net and her partner backed up from the baseline, they soon claimed that first set in 27 minutes. Also friends since juniors and born just four days apart in May 1993, the Hungarian and French pairing had reason to be confident against their more-experienced opponents, having defeated top-seeded defending champions and recent French Open champions Su-Wei Hsieh and Shuai Peng 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the third round.

ERRANI AND VINCI CONQUERS WOMEN´S DOUBLES IN MUTUA MADRID OPEN 2014

The Italian players won the Mutua Madrid Open trophy after beating the Garbiñe Muguruza - Carla Suárez duo 6-4, 6-3.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are the new Mutua Madrid Open doubles champions after a 6-4, 6-3 win over Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez, who reached the final having beaten world number 1 doubles team, Shuai Peng and Su-Wei Hsieh.

The duo formed by Muguruza and Suárez, who were playing in their first doubles final, were the surprise package of the tournament after receiving a wild card from the organisation. However, the Italians have a wealth of experience in this kind of game and it helped them come back in both sets to take the title on the Madrid clay. The Spaniards came flying out of the blocks in the first set. At 2-2 they capitalised on a break point to take a two-game lead in the match.
However, Errani and Vinci dug deep to take four games in a row and catch Muguruza and Suárez off-guard to take the first set. At the start of the second set the Spaniards took control once more, taking the first three games from the Italians. But as if it were written in the stars, the 2011 champions reined them in once more taking four games on the trot and the lead in the match. The streak gave the Italians the mental advantage and they made the most of it to conquer their second Mutua Madrid Open title.

Errani and Vinci retain Australian Open title. 24 January 2014.

ERRANI/VINCI_MAKAROVA/VESNINA 64 36 75

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci took a three-set win Friday over Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina and repeated as Australian Open women's doubles champions. Errani and Vinci rallied from a third-set deficit for a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory.

The win marked the fourth Grand Slam doubles title for Errani and Vinci, who needed to win the title in Melbourne to retain the world No. 1 ranking in women's doubles.

Makarova and Vesnina, seeded No. 3, had beaten the Italian team the last two times they played and seemed in control when they won five straight games for a 5-2 lead in the third set. Errani and Vinci, however, answered with a five-game winning streak of their own and won the championship.

"It was very strange, very difficult," Errani said. "We went from 2-0 up in the third set to 5-2 down in the third set, and we weren't really playing very well at that time. But from there we knew we had to keep going and we were able to make it." Makarova and Vesnina defeated Errani and Vinci for the French Open women's doubles title last year.

If the Russians had won Friday, Vesnina would have taken over the No. 1 ranking in women's doubles.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are the WTA's Doubles Team Of The Year 2013.

BOLOGNA & TARANTO, Italy
In a year where the four Grand Slam doubles titles were all won by different teams, it was always going to be hard to pick this one - but for their Australian Open title, being so consistent all year, and most importantly never letting anyone else have a piece of World No.1, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are very deservedly the WTA's Doubles Team Of The Year. Best friends and fantastic in singles and doubles, Errani and Vinci make the perfect team. And before 2013 even started they had a lot to brag about - 13 WTA doubles titles together, including their first two Grand Slams at the French and US Opens last year, and both had also spent time individually at No.1. But there was something missing, something so many of the all-time greatest teams have had together - the co-World No.1 doubles ranking. And it finally became reality for Errani and Vinci on April 29, 2013, as Errani joined Vinci at the top spot - it was after a breakthrough first few months of the year as well, where they won three WTA doubles titles, including their third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. They haven't won a title since becoming co-No.1s, but they have maintained very consistent results, highlighted by two more finals (at Rome and Roland Garros) and two more semifinals (at Beijing and the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships in Istanbul, qualifying there for the second year in a row).

Errani and Vinci aren't just doubles specialists, either - they are both ranked in the Top 15 in singles too, Errani at No.7 and Vinci at No.14, in fact the only two players in the Top 15 of both singles and doubles. Only one other player is in the Top 20 of both disciplines - that would be Jelena Jankovic. "I have a lot of fun playing doubles," Errani said. "It also helps my singles game. So I like to play both. Of course sometimes it's tough physically - after your singles maybe you're tired and you have to play doubles again - but I like it. And when you play with your best friend, it's easier to stay there.
" And what makes the Italians such a good team? "It's because we are best friends outside the court," Errani said. "It's a very important thing to be good friends with your doubles partner, because then you know each other very well, and that's very important when you're playing together as a team." Errani and Vinci are actually the only all-Italian duo in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam doubles title together, and they've now done it three times. Can they add to their haul in 2014?
Stay tuned.

RADWANSKA IMPONE SUTENNIS CONTROL ANTE VINCI EN SYDNEY 2013

RADWANSKA DEVUELVE DE REVÉS A VINCI EN SYDNEY 2013..
RADWANSKA_VINCI 64 75

Roberta Vinci _ Daniela Hantuchova 61 62
