Sara Errani into final of the dubai 2016

In a typically dogged display, Errani overturned deficits in both sets to prevail, 6-4, 6-4. The Italian, who lost to petra kvitova in the 2013 final, will meet either strycova or caroline Garcia on Saturday.

"It's tough today - it's hot and Elina hardly missed a ball at first - so I just tried to stay focused every point," Errani said in her on-court interview.

Both players had their moments in the opening set, but it was Errani who held her nerve when it mattered most, some resolute defending helping her to the decisive break in the ninth game.

Sara Errani advances in sydney 2016. Jancovic out

SYDNEY, Australia - Sara Errani looked on course for a three-setter during her second round encounter with Jelena jancovic; the Italian managed to up her game at the right moment at the apia international sydney, saving a whopping seven set points to take out the former No.1, 7-6(3), 7-6(8), in two hours and 30 minutes.

The 2012 roland garros finalist, Errani had eked out the opening set against an opponent she had beaten in three of their last four meetings. But Jankovic won their last match at the Huajin WTA and appeared poised to extend the match to a decider when the Serb raced out to a 5-1 lead.

"Yeah, it was 5-1, but I had many games with 40-Love, 40-15, and advantage, and so it didn't really feel like 5-1," Errani said.

SARA ERRANI CONQUERS OF THE RIO OPEN 2015

Schmiedlova had never even been to the quarterfinals of a WTA event before this week, let alone a final, and she put up all kinds of resistance in a marathon 73-minute first set, holding set point on Errani's serve at 5-4 and, after missing out on that opportunity, pushing the set to a tie-break.

That's when the No.1-seeded Errani came alive, storming through that tie-break and then jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second set, eventually closing out the No.6-seeded Schmiedlova, 7-6(2), 6-1. "The first set was tough. We played more than an hour," Errani said.
"We were both fighting hard in that set - she was playing very well and not giving me anything, really. It was also the first time I played her so I needed some time to find my tactics. I was happy I managed to win that set, and in the second set things started going much more my way. I think I was just physically stronger in the end.
"Winning a title is always special. This tournament was great and I leave with only good memories." "She was moving really well and she's a really great player," Schmiedlova said. "I played some very good tennis in the first set - the second set was worse, but I'm so happy I was in the final. "This week gave me a lot of confidence. I hope it helps me in my next tournaments." Errani came away with her eighth WTA title. Her first seven WTA titles came in 2008 (Palermo and Portoroz), 2012 (Acapulco, Barcelona, Budapest and Palermo) and most recently 2013 (Acapulco).

SARA ERRANI AND ROBERTA VINCI CONQUERS WIMBLEDON DOUBLES TITTLE 2014

Having claimed every other Grand Slam doubles together, it was only natural that Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci would wish to complete their Grand Slam collection at Wimbledon.

They did so convincingly with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in the final today, becoming only the fifth pair in history to win every Major title. Not only that, but Errani and Vinci are the first Italians to win a senior title at the All England Club in 128 editions of the tournament. “Unbelievable. I mean, no words to tell you what it is for us,” Errani said of the pair’s Grand Slam sweep.

“We were thinking about that all the day, all the morning. (It) is very special.” Experience was arguably the difference in the 56-minute win. The Italians, who are close friends, had already won 19 tour titles as a pair and were playing their 258th match together; Babos and Mladenovic, by contrast, were contesting only their third event as a team and 13th match, having reached the final of Paris earlier this year and fallen in the first round in Birmingham. The first blows were struck early by the second seeds, Errani and Vinci racing to a 3-0 lead when neither Babos nor Mladenovic could hold their opening service games. They’d surrender one of those breaks on Errani’s serve, but as Vinci imposed at the net and her partner backed up from the baseline, they soon claimed that first set in 27 minutes. Also friends since juniors and born just four days apart in May 1993, the Hungarian and French pairing had reason to be confident against their more-experienced opponents, having defeated top-seeded defending champions and recent French Open champions Su-Wei Hsieh and Shuai Peng 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the third round.

ERRANI AND VINCI CONQUERS WOMEN´S DOUBLES IN MUTUA MADRID OPEN 2014

The Italian players won the Mutua Madrid Open trophy after beating the Garbiñe Muguruza - Carla Suárez duo 6-4, 6-3.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are the new Mutua Madrid Open doubles champions after a 6-4, 6-3 win over Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez, who reached the final having beaten world number 1 doubles team, Shuai Peng and Su-Wei Hsieh.

The duo formed by Muguruza and Suárez, who were playing in their first doubles final, were the surprise package of the tournament after receiving a wild card from the organisation. However, the Italians have a wealth of experience in this kind of game and it helped them come back in both sets to take the title on the Madrid clay. The Spaniards came flying out of the blocks in the first set. At 2-2 they capitalised on a break point to take a two-game lead in the match.
However, Errani and Vinci dug deep to take four games in a row and catch Muguruza and Suárez off-guard to take the first set. At the start of the second set the Spaniards took control once more, taking the first three games from the Italians. But as if it were written in the stars, the 2011 champions reined them in once more taking four games on the trot and the lead in the match. The streak gave the Italians the mental advantage and they made the most of it to conquer their second Mutua Madrid Open title.

Sara Errani in QFS Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2014.

The Plot
In the past two years, Errani has carved out a reputation as one of the WTA's leading exponents of clay court tennis, picking up 52 wins and six titles on the surface. However, Stuttgart has never been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Italian, who prior to this visit had never won a match at the Porsche Arena. Kanepi has also been no stranger to success on clay in recent times, reaching the last eight at the French Open in both 2008 and 2012, and was the victor when the two last met on the surface, four years ago in Palermo.
 The Turning Point
Errani impressed in her opening round win, and after a slightly tentative start against Kanepi she soon found her rhythm. A run of four straight games helped her overturn an early deficit to take the opening set, as her endless retrieving and miserly unforced error count began to frustrate the Estonian. The second set was a similar story, Errani recovering from the loss of her opening service game to wrap up her 14th win of the season after just one hour and 22 minutes on court.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are the WTA's Doubles Team Of The Year 2013.

BOLOGNA & TARANTO, Italy
In a year where the four Grand Slam doubles titles were all won by different teams, it was always going to be hard to pick this one - but for their Australian Open title, being so consistent all year, and most importantly never letting anyone else have a piece of World No.1, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are very deservedly the WTA's Doubles Team Of The Year. Best friends and fantastic in singles and doubles, Errani and Vinci make the perfect team. And before 2013 even started they had a lot to brag about - 13 WTA doubles titles together, including their first two Grand Slams at the French and US Opens last year, and both had also spent time individually at No.1. But there was something missing, something so many of the all-time greatest teams have had together - the co-World No.1 doubles ranking. And it finally became reality for Errani and Vinci on April 29, 2013, as Errani joined Vinci at the top spot - it was after a breakthrough first few months of the year as well, where they won three WTA doubles titles, including their third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. They haven't won a title since becoming co-No.1s, but they have maintained very consistent results, highlighted by two more finals (at Rome and Roland Garros) and two more semifinals (at Beijing and the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships in Istanbul, qualifying there for the second year in a row).

Errani and Vinci aren't just doubles specialists, either - they are both ranked in the Top 15 in singles too, Errani at No.7 and Vinci at No.14, in fact the only two players in the Top 15 of both singles and doubles. Only one other player is in the Top 20 of both disciplines - that would be Jelena Jankovic. "I have a lot of fun playing doubles," Errani said. "It also helps my singles game. So I like to play both. Of course sometimes it's tough physically - after your singles maybe you're tired and you have to play doubles again - but I like it. And when you play with your best friend, it's easier to stay there.
" And what makes the Italians such a good team? "It's because we are best friends outside the court," Errani said. "It's a very important thing to be good friends with your doubles partner, because then you know each other very well, and that's very important when you're playing together as a team." Errani and Vinci are actually the only all-Italian duo in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam doubles title together, and they've now done it three times. Can they add to their haul in 2014?
Stay tuned.

Agnieszka Radwanska_ Sara Errani 67 75 64

Sara Errani_Zheng Jie 62 61
