Caroline wozniacki into final of the Aegon International 2017

EASTBOURNE, Great Britain 
For the first time since winning the title in 2009, Caroline Wozniacki is back in the final of the Aegon International after defeating Heather Watson, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

The Dane had been in the semifinals three times since winning the title, falling each time, but made it a fourth time lucky on Friday to advance to her fourth final of the season.

Polona hercog continues her route into qualifying of the Wimbledon 2017

“I had a back problem so it was a really long time for me with recovery and with rehab so I’m back and I have no problems and I’m really happy to be playing,” Martic said.“I expected a really tough match. I just tried not to think of her too much because yesterday I played really good and I think that helped me.”It is only three weeks since the Croatian made an impressive run through qualifying at Roland Garros before taking down two seeded opponents en route to the fourth round.

Caroline Wozniacki came back from a set down to end Simona Halep’s bid for the WTA World No.1 ranking and reach the semifinals at the Aegon International Eastbourne.

With Angelique Kerber advancing to the quarterfinals earlier in the day, Halep needed to reach the Eastbourne final to have a shot at moving to No.1. But she fell in the quarterfinals after Wozniacki completed the 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 comeback after an hour and 50 minutes.

“It was tough because I was ahead in the first set, kind of had her in the defense and running, then all of a sudden every time I put her in a corner she managed to find a way out of it,” Wozniacki explained in her post-match interview with Annabel Croft.

Johanna Konta won the final four games of a thrilling encounter with reigning French Open champion and No.10 seed Jelena Ostapenko, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to win the first of two matches on Thursday at the Aegon International.

With two straight days of stormy weather impacting the schedule, it was always going to be a long day for the British No.1, who will play top-ranked Angelique Kerber in a matter of hours in an upcoming quarterfinal clash.
