Held at the Autotron Rosmalen exhibition complex in southern Netherlands about 7 km east of 's-Hertogenbosch the week after the French Open, the Topshelf Open serves as a chance for many players to get acclimated to the grass in preparation for Wimbledon. Launched as an ATP tournament in 1990, it became a joint event in 1996. Champions include Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters, Mary Pierce and two-time titlist Justine Henin, who won the last of her 43 titles here in 2010.
The lone Dutch winner was Michaella Krajicek in 2006. The tournament's title sponsor, Topshelf Megastores, is one of Europe's major specialists in the sports, fashion and outdoor field.
