Defending women’s champion and world No.5 Agnieszka Radwanska will head the draw at the Apia International Sydney in 2014. The field is book-ended by Radwanska and 33rd-ranked Daniela Hantuchova, who received the last direct entry into the main draw before the cut-off. Bolstering the field further is the red-hot Simona Halep of Romania, announced as the WTA’s Most Improved Player of the Year and whose six titles in 2013 helped her rocket up the rankings to a career-high mark of No.11. It will be yet another strong women’s field with an extraordinary depth of talent descending on the Harbour City for the 5-11 January event – stay tuned for the release of the full player list on Thursday.
