Russia's Ekaterina Makarova loves playing Fed Cup by BNP Paribas for her country and the 27-year-old Muscovite is particularly looking forward to playing on home turf this weekend.
Not only does the World Group first round tie against Netherlands give Makarova the chance to catch up with her teammates but she is also hoping to make amends for missing out on last year's Final due to a freak accident in training.
"It will definitely be a tough match as always," explained Makarova. "Team tennis is always different to a normal tournament. Different emotions, different games from the players.
"We normally do everything by ourselves and there, for one week, we are a little bit more close to each other. We all have a good communication."
And Makarova knows that she has the chance to get on court this weekend - something she was unable to do in Prague last November.
"The injury at 2015 Fed Cup Final was tough," she added. "You can’t do your best and the only way is to cheer and clap as much as you can."
The tie against Netherlands takes place at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow on 6-7 February.
