Elena Baltacha has died at the age of just 30 from liver cancer.

The ex-player passed away on Sunday at 30 years of age due to a cancer that was detected last January, just two months after retiring from tennis. 
The world of tennis is mourning the loss of British ex-tennis player Elena Baltacha, who has died from a cancer that was detected last January. Just two months after retiring from professional tennis and a few weeks after marrying the man who was her coach, Nino Severino, the ex-British number one was diagnosed with cancer, and after a battling against the illness for several months, she passed away at home on Sunday. “We are heartbroken beyond words at the loss of our beautiful, talented and determined Bally.
 She was an amazing person and she touched so many people with her inspirational spirit, her warmth and her kindness”, said her husband in a statement. 
 The President and CEO of the WTA, Stacey Allaster, also expressed her regret at the passing of the British player in a statement. “We are deeply grieved to lose our friend Elena Baltacha in her battle with cancer. Elena’s journey was never an easy one and yet she consistently showed her strength, good humour and indomitable spirit”, stated Allaster.
