Belinda Bencic advances in Wimbledon 2018.

WIMBLEDON, Great Britain
Belinda Bencic's run at Wimbledon continued on Saturday with a third-round victory over No.27 seed Carla Suárez Navarro of Spain, 6-1, 7-6(3), as the 21-year-old Swiss player advanced to the fourth round at a Grand Slam event for the first time since the Australian Open in 2016.

NEWS ORDER OF PLAY, WILLIAMS VS SUAREZ NAVARRO. MIAMI OPEN 2015

(1) Serena Williams (USA #1) vs (12) Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP #12)

Like Flavia Pennetta and Sara Errani before her, Carla Suárez Navarro has evolved from being a clay court specialist. While she grew up on dirt and likely still holds special affection for it, the diminutive 26-year-old is becoming a significant threat on hardcourts.
Her win over Maria Sharapova at the Rogers Cup last year perhaps foreshadowed what was to come this year. Playing exclusively on hardcourts to start 2015, her victims have included Karolina Pliskova, Ekaterina Makarova, Sabine Lisicki, Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska,
Venus Williams and Andrea Petkovic. The victory this week over Williams, arguably, was the one that impressed the most. Here she was, facing the overwhelming crowd favorite in Miami and down a set (and a bageled one at that).
Yet in another example this season of Suárez Navarro's comfortableness on hardcourts, battling qualities and increased belief, she found a way to turn it around - admittedly aided by some unforced errors from the three-time Miami Open champ. As Suárez Navarro tweeted Thursday following her semifinal win, she takes it 'step by step, point by point.' Serena Williams, meanwhile, entered Miami under a cloud of uncertainty, having pulled out of her semifinal in Indian Wells against Simona Halep due to a knee injury.
She remained in the Miami draw, however, and the knee was put to the test in her opener (another opener) against Monica Niculescu, Halep's fellow Romanian who often makes opponents cover every inch of the court.

SIMONA HALEP ADVANCED TO SEMOS. BNP PARIBAS OPEN 2015

Simona Halep might be the hardest-working player at the BNP Paribas Open, recording her third three-set victory Wednesday when she beat Carla Suarez Navarro 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to her first semifinal at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

The victory is particularly impressive because Suarez Navarro leads the WTA with 10 three-set victories this season. Suarez Navarro raced up to a 3-0 lead and then 4-1 before Halep broke back to even the match at 4-4. “I know how she plays, she runs the court and hits the angles,” Halep said. “I just tried to be more aggressive and take the ball faster and finish the points. I did everything I could.
” Halep improves her record to 5-4 against Suarez Navarro. This is the second consecutive year Halep reached the semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open. Last year she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinal. This year, Halep awaits the winner of the Serena Williams-Timea Bacsinszky match. Bacsinszky has the longest active winning streak on the WTA Tour with 15 consecutive wins, and Williams trails with 14 straight.

Wozniacki advances into Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open Wuhan 2014

Wozniacki, the No.8 seed at the Premier-level event, needed more than two hours to make it past Suárez Navarro, dropping the second set and facing a point for a 5-3 deficit in the third set but clawing back and eventually making it past the Spanish No.1 in a third set tie-break, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(4).
Suárez Navarro had almost three times as many winners as Wozniacki during the match, 46 to 16, but the usually-rock solid Spaniard also had more than twice as many unforced errors, 51 to 24.

ANGELIQUE KERBER IN APIA INTERNACIONAL SYDNEY 2014

In the last match of the Wednesday schedule on Ken Rosewall Arena, Angelique Kerber took out her quarterfinal against Carla Suarez-Navarro 6-2 6-4.
The match got underway a little quicker than expected with the retirement of Bethanie Mattek-Sands, a lower back injury ending her campaign and sending opponent Madison Keys through to the semifinals. “I was watching the match in the players lounge and after she retired we had 15 minutes to warm up and get ready mentality so I was ready from the first point,” Kerber revealed. This was evident as the German got off to a flying start, racing out to a 4-0 lead early in the first set after her penetrating groundstrokes pinned Suarez-Navarro behind the baseline. But the Spaniard fought back, taking two straight games from Kerber off the back of some impressive defense, mixing up the pace of the ball with different slices.
With a commanding 5-2 lead, Kerber and her opponent were sent back into the locker room when light rain drizzled on the court. Play was suspended for 30 minutes but Kerber returned with focus and took the first set 6-2. “I was just thinking point to point and not thinking too much about the score,” she said. The second set started the way the first ended with Kerber grabbing the break in the first game. Yet Suarez-Navarro wasn’t going anywhere; with a cracking forehand winner down the line the Spaniard drew level at 2-2. After a hard-fought seventh game, the world no. 16 held off multiple break points to lead the second set 4-3.
Trailing for the first time in the second set, the German lifted, once again breaking the Spaniard and closing out the match with a strong service game. Kerber was happy to take the match in two sets after their epic three-setter last year at Flushing Meadows, where she went down in a third set tiebreaker. “It was a tough opponent, we had a great fight in the US Open last year, I’m just happy to win it in two because I knew it wouldn’t be an easy one.” With a superb crosscourt backhand winner, Kerber became the second seed into the semifinals, setting up a date with teen sensation Keys for a place in the final.

KVITOVA ABRE CON VICTORIA LA TEMPORADA 2013 ANTE SUAREZ NAVARRO

KVITOCA INTENTA GOLPEAR DE REVÉS ANTE SUAREZ NAVARRO
KVITOVA_SUAREZ NAVARRO 63 64
