After dropping her opening service game, the unseeded Russian barely put a foot wrong, drawing level at 3-3 before pinching the set. Czech Republic conquer's of the fed cup 2016
Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Strycova clinched a thrilling Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final in the deciding doubles rubber against France to win a fifth title in the last six years
The Czech duo won the fifth rubber 75 75 against Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic to propel their captain Petr Pala into the record books.
The tall skipper is now the most successful captain in the history of the competition having led his team to five titles.
For the second straight year and for the fourth tie in a row the Czechs sealed victory in the deciding doubles.
Earlier in the day France moved into a 2-1 lead after Garcia put in a great performance to oust Czech No. 1 Pliskova 63 36 63. Alize Cornet was unable to clinch the vital third point against the higher-ranked Strycova in the second of the reverse singles rubbers and so it was the doubles that would prove decisive once again.
Pliskova and strycova win's over Garcia and Mladenovic in fed cup final 2016
Barbora Strycova kept hopes of a Czech comeback alive with a 62 76(4) win against Alize Cornet after Caroline Garcia had put the hosts ahead against Karolina Pliskova in Strasbourg
The 2016 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final will now be decided in the doubles rubber for a second straight year.
Both captains have made changes to their original nominations, with Amelie Mauresmo bringing in Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, while Petr Pala has chosen to go with Pliskova and Strycova in the deciding doubles.
France moved 2-1 up earlier in the day after Garcia put in a great performance to oust Czech No. 1 Pliskova 63 36 63 but Cornet was unable to clinch the vital third point against the higher-ranked Strycova in the second of the reverse singles rubbers.
This time last year the Czech duo of Pliskova and Strycova teamed up to win the Fed Cup title against Russia and they will have to be at their very best if they are to defeat the French doubles duo on home soil.
