Everything that the borough of Queens has to offer was on full display during the US Open’s third annual Queens Day on Wednesday, fusing the world’s best players with some of the world’s best cultural and entertainment attractions.
A variety of Queens-based performances, ranging from interactive Zumba to Ecuadorian dancing, could be found throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Kids took part in exhibitions and family-friendly activities throughout the day, while the Queens Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce offered information for local fans and visitors on how to utilize everything the borough has to offer.
“There was something for us to do or see pretty much everywhere we turned,” said Brooke Goldberg, of Astoria, N.Y., who came to Queens Day with her two kids. “I’ve seen a lot of the performers here throughout Queens over the years, so it was great to see them all in one place.”
