The No.7 seeded Russian rallied for a 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-0 win over No.4 seed Julia Goerges in Sunday's championship, after the German served for the title in the second set.

"Every time when I was coming back, I was really enjoying, and dreaming to win this tournament, and here it is. I'm so happy about that," Makarova said. "I don't have a coach this week with me, but I have some great supporters. The crowd was just amazing and I heard a lot of Russians today...all tournament, I just really enjoyed this week. Sloane Stephens capture the first WTA title of her career. Citi Open 2015. #summer2015

WTA Rising Star Sloane Stephens capped a breakthrough week at the Citi Open on Sunday, outslugging Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to win the first WTA title of her career.

Before this week, Stephens had never even reached a WTA final - in fact the World No.35 was the only player in the Top 40 never to achieve the feat. But she finally shook that tag with a semifinal win over the No.2 seed, Samantha Stosur, and then cruised past Pavlyuchenkova in her first final, 6-1, 6-2.

"I just went out there and tried to play the best I could," Stephens told reporters afterwards. "I think I executed my game very well today - it was just a really good day for me.
" A former World No.11, Stephens will now move back into the Top 30 on the new WTA Rankings. "It's great to win this first title - I haven't even thought about my next goal yet," Stephens said.
"First I'm going to celebrate, though! I'm going to the Ethiopian restaurant I've been going to all week.

MAGDALENA RYBARIKOVA WINS IN WASHINGTON 2013. CITI OPEN.

RYBARIKOVA_PETKOVIC 64 76

WASHINGTON 5 AUGUT_2013

Magdalena Rybarikova is unbeaten at the Citi Open: two years, two titles.
The seventh-seeded Slovakian turned things around after a slow start and beat unseeded Andrea Petkovic of Germany 6-4, 7-6 (2) in Sunday's final to improve to 10-0 at the hard-court tournament. Half of her four career trophies came at the Citi Open. "I would love to play (here) all the time, maybe," said Rybarikova, who is ranked 43rd.
She fell behind 4-0 before taking eight consecutive games to win the first set and go up 2-0 in the second. There was one other blip for Rybarikova, who got broken while serving for the match at 5-4 in the last set.

"I was really tight and my arm was kind of shaking," Rybarikova said. But she pulled herself together in the tiebreaker, explaining later that she was "really, really calm and relaxed."
Petkovic, in contrast, was feeling wiped out down the stretch. She had a tough turnaround, coming back to play in the final a little more than 15 hours after her rain-delayed semifinal finished past 2 a.m. Sunday.
By the time she got a massage and ate something and wound down, Petkovic said, she didn't get to bed until 5 a.m. and got only four or five hours of sleep. "That lack of energy - it doesn't affect my body so much, but it affects always my emotions and my mental state. So I was getting really emotional out there when I normally stay really calm," said Petkovic, a former top-10 player who is coming back from a series of injuries and is currently ranked 64th.

The origins of the Citi Open date back to an ATP event that launched in 1969 as one of the first open professional tennis tournaments held in the United States. It has since featured some of the sport's most innovative changes, including blue courts, instant replay/video boards in the stadium, the main draw getting underway on Sunday and being part of the Emirates Airline US Open Series. After the WTA held an event in College Park, Maryland, in 2011, the ATP and WTA staged a joint tournament in 2012 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in the Rock Creek Park section of Washington, DC. Thus, various site upgrades were put in place, including a show court to accommodate both events. Citi is a global financial services company with about 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. The Citi Open is owned by and benefits the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF), which seeks to improve life prospects for DC area youth.

NADIA PETROVA VENCE A PEER EN MARYLAND EL CITI OPEN 2011.

PETROVA CON SU TROFEO DE CAMPEONA EN MARYLAND 2011
Nadia Petrova_Shahar Peer 7-5, 6-2
Vamos Nadia!!
