Qiang captured her second career WTA title at the 2018 Guangzhou International

For the second straight year, the Gunagzhou International Women's Open has a Chinese champion.

No.3 seed Wang Qiang won her second career WTA title at the International-level event on Saturday, defeating No.5 seed Yulia Putintseva, 6-1, 6-2.

Jelena Jancovic conquers Guangzhou International Women's Open Title 2015

Jelena Jankovic ended the surprise run of WTA Rising Star Denisa Allertova on Sunday to lift her first WTA title of the year at the Guangzhou International Women's Open. 

 Allertova was having the best week of her career in Guangzhou - she not only took out the No.1 seed, Simona Halep, in the quarterfinals, her win over the World No.2 the biggest of her career, but she also followed that up with a semifinal win over No.3 seed Sara Errani to make her first WTA final. 
 She made a promising start in the final, too, getting broken in the first game but breaking right back and then holding for a 2-1 lead. But that's where all of it may have caught up with the young Czech. The No.4-seeded Jankovic reeled off 11 games in a row from there, losing a total of just 20 points in those 11 games, to completely run away with the rest of the match, wrapping the victory up, 6-2, 6-0. 
 "It was an amazing time for me here," Allertova, who went first, said. 
"I'm so happy I could beat so many good players here and play my first final. Jelena was too good, but I'm happy with my week."

Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza captured another straightforward win in Guangzhou, moving past Julia Glushko and Rebecca Peterson, 6-3, 6-4. 

 "It's very hot today and a tough game, but we play well," Mirza said after the match. The reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions broke serve five times to clinch the match in just over an hour. Up next for the dynamic duo will be a pair of hometown favorites as former top-ranked junior Xu Shilin and partner You Xiaodi upset No.2 seeds Anatasia Rodionova and Klaudia Jans-Ignacik, 7-6(5), 6-3. 
Xu and You thrilled the Centre Court crowd as they saved all four break points faced in the second set to take the match in straight sets.

Mónica Niculescu win her second WTA title at the Guangzhou International Women's Open 2014

Things didn't look so great for Niculescu early on in the final, as the No.2-seeded Cornet surged ahead 4-2 in the first set. But from there it was one way traffic in the other direction as Niculescu reeled off 10 games in a row - and at one point eight points in a row - to run away with the match, 6-4, 6-0. 

"I was so happy to finish in the end because it was very hot and very humid, and I was very, very tired," Niculescu said. "But to finish so strong was amazing for me. I have many emotions right now, but most of it is joy and confidence. It's my second WTA title and that's just an amazing feeling." Niculescu was asked why she's so effective in such tough conditions. "I think it's very tough to play against me because I put many balls back and run a lot and fight for every ball - I think in this heat and humidity it's definitely not easy to play against me," she said.
