DUBAI DUTY FREE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Lacoste Special Needs Tennis Clinic.

Over 80 children were treated to an exciting day at the tennis today, as they participated in the Lacoste Special Needs Tennis Clinic. 

In partnership with Lacoste and the Clark Francis Tennis Academy, the clinic served up lessons, lunch, and a visit from top WTA players for children from Al Noor, Dubai Centre for Special Needs, Rashid Pediatric Centre, the Dubai Autism Centre and Manzil School. 
 The Lacoste Special Needs Clinic is specifically designed to offer a fun tennis experience for children with special needs, and they were delighted to be joined by WTA players Elena Vesnina and Arantxa Parra Santonja, who took to the court to lend a helping hand. They shared tennis tips and plenty of high-fives with the children, saying "It's good fun to get out with the kids and see a smile on their faces, they’re great kids and it’s good to be here." 
 Tournament mascots Ace and Annette also joined in the fun. Sol Goodwin, a teacher at Dubai Centre for Special Needs commented “The children all love today, it is the one day that they get excited for every year. When we tell them it is the tennis day they all light up with smiles. The day is always well organized and enjoyable. Everyone had a chance to hit a ball and they all received a t-shirt and cap which they all wore while on the court. Looking forward to next year already.” The children were delighted to be at the tennis, with one of them, Sheikha Al Kharbash from Dubai Center for Special Needs saying “Best part of the day was meeting a real player. Wow, she was super nice.”

Gisela Dulko se convirtió en la nueva reina del Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC, al vencer en dos mangas a Parra-Santonja.
En su sexta aparición en Acapulco, Dulko se impuso por 6-3 y 7-6(5) en un encuentro que duró una hora con 44 minutos y alcanzó así su cuarto título en individuales en el circuito de la WTA y de paso se convirtió en la primera argentina en coronarse en este certamen, tras los intentos de Paola Suárez en 2002 y Mariana Díaz-Oliva en 2003.
Después de ganar con facilidad la 1 manga y tomar una sbstancial ventaja de 5-1 en la segunda, la jugadora sudamericana, 73 del ranking mundial, no pudo cerrar el partido y vivió momentos de dramatismo, al perder cinco juegos en forma consecutiva con tres rupturas de servicio.
Sin embargo, la jugadora Valenciana tampoco pudo coronar su extraordinaria remontada y dejó escapar tres puntos de set con 6-5 y su saque, lo que al final le costó el partido.
Gisela Dulko no había ganado un sólo partido de individuales en la temporada hasta antes de Acapulco, y no conquistaba un título desde hace más de tres años. Por su parte, Parra-Santonja, 79 WTA, perdió su segunda final de individuales en su carrera profesional, tras caer el año pasado en Estoril, Portugal.
Gisela Dulko mencionó que Acapulco es su torneo favorito y tras seis años puede levantar el título: “Estoy muy contenta, era mi sueño ganar este torneo, cumplí el objetivo, siempre es un placer estar aquí, gracias a todos por su apoyo”.
Sobre el descontrol que tuvo en el segundo set, señaló: “Es difícil terminar los partidos, me puse muy nerviosa y no seguí jugando de la misma manera, ella después jugó mejor, más agresiva, pero afortunadamente pude recuperarme a tiempo para ganar el partido, no sé si soy la nueva reina del torneo, pero sentí el cariño de la gente que me quiere mucho y con eso me quedo; sabía que Mariana y Paola habían perdido una final, pero no pensé en eso, para mí es un honor ser la primera argentina en ganar aquí”.
Dulko, que viajará este domingo a Monterrey para jugar su siguiente torneo de la WTA, se llevó un premio de 37 mil dólares y 280 puntos para la clasificación mundial.
