Eugenie Bouchard into quarter final of the apia international Sydney 2017

Eugenie Bouchard  is through to her first WTA quarterfinals since March 2016 after a straight sets victory over cibulkova  at the apia international Sydney 2017

The Canadian's brand of attacking tennis was in full swing against the reigning WTA Finals champ, and was just as vexing to Cibulkova as it was in the pair's previous encounters. Bouchard has won all of their three hard court matches, and she extended that streak today in her 6-4, 6-3 win.

Dominika Cibulkova  was in clinical form against Laura siegemund,  dropping just two games en route to the second round of the apia international Sydney.

Unlike the pair's only previous match, a grueling three-setter last year in Wuhan which went Cibulkova's way, their first meeting of 2017 was a decidedly more straightforward affair with the Slovak prevailing 6-2, 6-0.
