Angelique Kerber did not have it all her own way as she moved past Nina Stojanovic and into the second round with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The German lefty went down 0-3 in the first set before pulling back for a 6-4 finish against the Serbian debutante.
In the second set, despite a sustained effort from Stojanovic, the former world No.1, who currently sits 58 ranking places above her opponent, continued to demonstrate her experience that has netted her 13 titles to date, most recently on the grass at Bad Homburg just last week.
