 No.4 seeds Elise Mertens of Belgium and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus finished a brilliant season on American hardcourts by winning their first Grand Slam title at the US Open on Sunday, defeating No.8 seeds Victoria Azarenka of Belarus and Ashleigh Barty of Australia, 7-5, 7-5, to clinch the women’s doubles championship.
