CoCo Vandeweghe had put USA 2-1 ahead with a 76(5) 61 victory against Belarus’ No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka – achieving a personal milestone in the process, by becoming just the ninth player to achieve a perfect year in Fed Cup singles since the introduction of the World Group in 1995 and the first since Petra Kvitova in 2011.
