The 20-year-old hard hitter from Japan captured her first career title in Indian Wells, a WTA Premier Mandatory event, with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 triumph over fellow 20-year-old Daria kasatkina of Russia.
Osaka becomes the youngest champion at the event since 2008, when Ana Ivanovic won the title.
