 Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska notched a tremendous upset at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open on Wednesday, stunning No.2 seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, 6-1, 6-4, to book a spot in the quarterfinals in her tournament debut.
"I think I just did my job," Yastremska said during her post-match press conference. "I was really in a good courage today. I think I prepared myself well."

It was that lack of pressure that let Sabalenka shake off losing a 5-1 lead in the second set, four match points, and a set point from Bertens before finally securing a spot in her first Premier 5 quarterfinal of the season, 6-1, 7-6(9).

Petra Kvitova advances in Wuhan 2019



 Kvitova and Hercog’s second-round clash unfolded in a similar fashion to the pair’s lone previous meeting   more than seven years ago, when Kvitova took down Hercog 7-6(6), 6-1 at the 2012 US Open. Much like that match, both players were dialed in from the start and neither player allowed the other any break chances.

Karolina Muchova had to wait six hours to take to the court for the KEB Hana Bank Korea Open final due to rain - but wasted no time once there, racing to her maiden title with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over No.4 seed Magda Linette in one hour and eight minutes.

A semiifnalist at last year's tournament, held in Tokyo, the Italian No. 1 needed 75 minutes to seal her spot in the last eight. She booked her third quarterfinal appearance in her last six events, where she'll face Belgian Elise Mertens. 
"It was a good match for sure and I was able to play my game, show off my attacking style and be consistent," Giorgi said after the match.
"When I play I always focus on myself. I only made a few mistakes. That’s always been my way, ever since I was little, to attack, to go forward, to put the pressure on. This surface suits my game, too."
