Angelique kerber and Julia goerges win's in fed cup 2017. Germany 2 Ukraine 0

KERBER AND GOERGES GET GERMANS OFF TO A FLYER

Speaking on the eve of Germany’s Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group play-off with Ukraine in Stuttgart, the hosts’ captain Barbara Rittner remarked that her team loved playing in the city – site of six of Germany’s last eight home ties – because "we feel very comfortable here".
That sense of comfort will have undoubtedly been heightened after her players Julia Goerges and Angelique Kerber put their team into a commanding 2-0 lead in the tie, beating Elina Svitolina 46 61 64 and Lesia Tsurenko 61 64 respectively on Saturday.
Goerges has beaten both former US Open champion Sam Stosur and the Dane Caroline Wozniacki this year and was promoted to team No. 2, ahead of the inexperienced Laura Siegemund, on the back of this recent form and her greater familiarity playing in the Cup.
