The TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup, a WTA event from 2005 to 2010 that then took a three-year absence while the WTA Championships were held in Istanbul, returned to the calendar as an International event again in 2014. Initially an outdoor clay event, the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup became an outdoor hardcourt tournament in 2009.
It has been held at the Koza World of Sport complex - the largest tennis facility in the world with 64 courts and various other sports and amenities - since the 2014 staging. TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup champions have included Venus Williams, Elena Dementieva, Agnieszka Radwanska and Caroline Wozniacki.
The largest city in Turkey and one of the largest cities in the world in terms of population, Istanbul constitutes the country's economic, cultural and historical heart.
