NEWS KATOWICE OPEN 2015. 7 APRIL 2015

KATOWICE, Poland
Alizé Cornet and Camila Giorgi, Agnieszka Radwanska's top challengers at the Katowice Open this week, battled into the second round of the International event on Monday.

Watch live action from Katowice this week on WTA Live powered by TennisTV! The No.3-seeded Giorgi, who is projected to face the No.1-seeded Radwanska in the semifinals, was the first of the pair to advance, and it wasn't easy by any means. Having originally led, 7-5, 2-0, Giorgi dropped the second set and was forced to battle back from 2-0 down in the third to beat big-serving Czech Denisa Allertova, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.
The match lasted a total of two hours and 39 minutes.
"I'm very happy with my win today because it wasn't an easy one," Giorgi said afterwards. Giorgi has fond memories of Katowice. Last year she came here never having reached a WTA quarterfinal, but she made it all the way to her first WTA final - she even held match point in that final. "I'm pleased to be back in Katowice," the Italian said.
