Maria Sharapova was awarded her fifth career Best Female Tennis Player ESPY at Wednesday night's annual ESPN ESPYS award show.

The award recognizes achievements in the calendar year preceding the awards ceremony.
After missing the last four months of the 2013 season, Sharapova has had a tremendous first half of 2014, dominating the clay court season - she won three of the four tournaments she played, in Stuttgart, Madrid and the French Open - and she's now No.1 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard, the year-long journey to the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
It was Sharapova's fifth time winning the ESPY award for Best Female Tennis Player (2005, 2007, 2008, 2012 and now 2014). Only Serena Williams has more with six (2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013). Sharapova was also a presenter alongside champion boxer Floyd Mayweathe
